Ubuntu 18.04 Installation in VMware Workstation

Ubuntu is an Open Source operating system. To run an OS on the Workstation, we need to install them on the workstation using their iso files. So lets install Ubuntu 18.04 OS.

Step 1 :- Download Ubuntu 18.04 iso file from the link given below :-

               https://www.ubuntu.com/download

               Click on the Ubuntu Desktop to download iso file.



Step 2 :- Click on the download button to start the downloading of the iso file.


Step 3 :- While saving the file, you will see the file ending with .iso extension.



Step 4 :-  You will get your downloaded iso file in your downloads folder.


Step 5 :-Open VMware Workstation and click on the Create a New Virtual Machine Button. This will create a new virtual machine with ubuntu running in your workstation.


Step 6 :- Click on the Custom button and press Next.


Step 7 :- Select the Hardware compatibility (mostly go with the default settings)


Step 8:- Click on the installer disk image file button and browse your downloaded iso file in it.



Step 9 :-  In this step, you personalize your Linux by giving User Name and Password to it.


Step 10 :- In this step you give name to your Virtual Machine.


Step 11:- In this step, you configure the Processor (Keep the default settings).


Step 12 :- In this step you specify the memory for the Virtual Machine. (Go with the defaults).


Step 13:- In this step, you configure the network settings of the Virtual Machine. (Recommended to with default which is NAT).


Step 14 :- In this step, You select I/O Controller types. (Go with the defaults).


Step 15 :- In this step, you select a disk type for the VM. (Go with defaults).


Step 16 :- In this step, you create a new virtual disk.


Step 17 :- In this step, you specify the disk capacity for the newly created virtual disk.


Step 18 :- In this step, you specify the location for storing the disk file. (Go with the defaults).



Step 19 :- Finally click on the Finish button to complete the installation.


Step 20 :- After that you will see a welcome screen of ubuntu.


Step 21 :- Lastly, a login prompt will appear and would ask you to enter password to login into your newly installed Ubuntu System.


Step 22 :- And finally the Ubuntu desktop appears and now you are ready to work with it.
